Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant, 2013

August, 2013

2013, July; Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant ceiling installation, Adelaide.

A sculptural lighting installation for the restaurant foyer, dining room, and wine cellar.
Collaboration with designer and architect Pascale Gomes-McNabb.

Pascale’s vision for the Magill Estate Restaurant won Best Restaurant Design for Australia and the Pacific at the 2014 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards in London, and the Hospitality Design category at the 2014 Australian Interior Design Awards.

“Most dazzling is the lighting. Constellations of handmade glass spheres festoon the space, dancing from timber hurdles that nimbly straddle the original acoustic ceiling. Varying in diameter, opacity and colour, from shark black to pearlescent oyster, the globes glow like a phosphorescent deep seascape. Their reflections in the windows fill the space in a glittering doubling of the twinkling city nightscape.”
